About Orrery

Built by an analyst who got tired of scrubbing video recordings.

Orrery started as one analyst’s searchable database of the conferences he covered. Now it’s the record your AI can draw on, built for quick, accurate answers.

Our story

It started with too many tabs open.

Our co-founder, Ben, spent his days as a competitive intelligence analyst at a healthcare consultancy. The job meant a dozen tabs of abstracts, slides and notes, and hours scrubbing on-demand video to work out how a company was repositioning a Phase 2 asset, or how a new data analysis might change practice.

The abstracts were searchable. The sessions weren’t, even though that’s where the real story was: the newer data, the presenter’s offhand caveats, the pointed question from the floor, and how the room reacted. Nothing tracked any of it over time, like when a KOL’s tone shifted from enthusiastic to cautious.

So he built the record he wished he’d had.

Mission

Conference intelligence shouldn’t depend on the size of your coverage team.

Large companies can afford to cover every conference. Smaller teams usually can’t, though they often have the most to gain from staying agile and jumping on an opportunity early.

We think the record of what was presented and discussed should be available to any team that needs it. Better intelligence for lean teams means more confident bets, and more shots on goal for treatments that might not otherwise get made.

The founders

Ben Luby

Co-Founder

Ben holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Toronto, where his research focused on building new diagnostics. He went on to work as a competitive intelligence analyst for a consultancy serving large pharma, covering conferences and watching offhand comments at the podium become guidelines years later. He built Orrery: the indexing, the record, and the AI connection. He’s also its first and most demanding user. Everything in it has been tested against questions he was already asking on the job.

Katelyn Luby

Co-Founder

Katelyn spent ten years at a marketing consultancy, joining when it was small and helping grow it to 35 people. At Orrery she leads marketing and everything from the first conversation to an onboarded client. She’s in it for the mission: faster, better-informed decisions in drug development, especially for the diseases that don’t attract big-pharma investment.
